EAST MEETS WEST - a discussion of differences |
|
Contibution from:Prof Alastair Campbell and Dr Farhat Mozam discuss cultural differences and approaches to biomedical ethics. In this fascinating podcast, Dr Mozam explains how she came from paediatric surgery into bioethics, the work her Centre does in Karachi, and the many differences she has encountered in her work in both the USA and Pakistan. Their discussion is far ranging and covers many issues; it can be provocative and challenges some basic concepts imbedded in Western bioethics which are differently interpreted, if even relevant, in an Eastern context. A discussion not to be missed! Prof Campbell is Director of the Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE), National University of Singapore. Dr Farhat Mozam is Director of the Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture, Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), Karachi. |
